Yield My Life to You

I Know the Love (of Christ)

Craig M. Glasheen Jr.
John 3:16-17; Romans 5:8

This song is about the Christian’s life before salvation, at the moment of salvation, and how we are to live each day. We "see the light" not only at the moment of our salvation but each time the Spirit reveals Biblical truth to us.

I used to walk around so filled with pride.
So impressed by who I thought I was inside.
No need for Jesus, I'll do it my own way.
I live for today.

But the Lord, He had other plans in mind.
Like the beggars healed, I am no longer blind.
He revealed Himself in such a real way.
I'm His child today.

I see the light shining down on me.
I feel the grace that has set me free.
I know the love of a Savior who died for me.
I keep the hope of being like Him.
I have the peace of His Spirit within.
I know the love of the Savior who died for me.

Now I live day to day relying on His grace.
I pray in all I do that I will seek His face.
How I need Jesus, the Savior of my soul.
He has made me whole.

My Redeemer Lives

Craig M. Glasheen Jr.
Hebrews 1:1-4; 10:12-18

Two points are being addressed in this song. The first, is that unlike all other religions, we do not worship a dead Saviour. We know our Lord is in heaven waiting to come for His bride, the church. The second, is that when Christ said "It is finished," He meant it. He died once for all and there is no more sacrifice for sin.

I know the bondage of sin.
I know the evil within.
I know it comes from the heart.
I know it sets us apart.

I know the spotless lamb.
I know the nails in His hands.
I know the blood poured out.
I know He'll return with a shout.

I know my Redeemer lives. I know my Redeemer lives.
He died once for all, Never more to die again.
He triumphed over the grave. Full atonement, lost sinners saved.

I know the sword from His mouth.
I know it removes any doubt.
I know the joy He brings.
Jesus, my Lord, and my conquering king.

Son of God 'Twas Love That Made Thee

Lyrics: Unknown
Music: Craig M. Glasheen Jr. & Mike Connell

In an issue of the Berean Call, a reader wrote in to complain about the trend of churches having a "worship team" leading the congregation in shallow, repetitive choruses about worship but without real worship. Included in the response was the mention of this hymn and how rare it is to see songs with this depth of praise and worship anymore. So, I thought I'd write a tune around these wonderful lyrics.

Son of God, 'twas love that made Thee Die, our ruined souls to save;
'Twas our sins' vast load that laid Thee, Lord of Life within the grave;
But Thy glorious resurrection Showed Thee conqueror o'er the tomb;
So the saints by Thy protection Thro' Thy work shall overcome.

Thou to heav'n hast now ascended, Entr'ing there by Thine own blood;
All Thy work of suff'ring ended, Fully wro't the will of God.
For Thy Church Thou still art caring, For us pleading in Thy love;
And our place of rest preparing In the Father's house above.

Now the Holy Ghost doth gather Unto God Thy people here;
We, as sons, cry "Abba, Father!" His great love excluding fear:
What a debt of love we owe Thee, Love that we can n'er express,
Since we, thro' the Spirit, know Thee, Christ the Lord, our righteousness.

Even My Faith

Craig M. Glasheen Jr.
Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 12:3

This song was written to express how there's nothing we can do to earn salvation. We are saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.  Adding anything to Christ's finished work (such as baptism, etc.) as a requirement for salvation is the equivalent of telling God that Christ's death on the cross wasn't good enough. That's blasphemy and it is not salvation.

Everyone has sinned. The debt must be paid
The Bible's very clear. There's just one way
You must realize you can't save yourself
You have to depend on someone else

Your so-called good works are all in vain
At the Great White Throne nothing remains
Jesus said you must be born again
The first step is repentance of your sin

My salvation is purely by God's grace
The redemption through Christ's shed blood
No sacrament or work can help in any way
Even my faith's a gift from God

Now you've heard the truth. What will you do?
Trust in the One who died for you
Understand the gospel's simply this:
Jesus died to take away your sins

Lord Send Me

Craig M. Glasheen Jr.
Isaiah 6:5, 8

When Isaiah saw our Lord, he was immediately overcome by how sinful he was. Nevertheless, when the Lord asked, "Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?" Isaiah responded, "Here am I; send me." We need to focus on Him and not ourselves. Remember, "I can do [endure or accomplish] all things [that God wills] through Christ who strengthens me."

Lord, I come before your throne
A wretched sinful soul You chose to save.
Though I wander far from You
So many times Your faithfulness remains.

Show me what You'd have me do.
I want to give my all to You
And be a shining light for all to see.

Lord, I come before your throne
And ask forgiveness for my lack of faith.
You alone are holy Lord
I marvel at Your love, mercy, and grace.

Show me what You'd have me do.
I want to give my all to You
And be a shining light for all to see.
Let me never compromise
Your holy truth for Satan's lies.
I want to bring Your Word to those in need.
Lord, send me.

I'll Praise You

Craig M. Glasheen Jr.
Psalm 18; Job 13:15; Revelation 1:5-6

No matter what happens, we are to praise our holy God. I was thinking about the verse in Job where Job says, "Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him." What a powerful statement. God is honored when we trust Him and trusting Him is probably the highest form of praise we can offer. From there I thought about how we need to praise God for what we have and what He has promised us.

Though my enemies surround me where I stand
No matter what, I’ll praise You, LORD.
When I grow weary, striving against sin
You lift me up, I’ll praise You, LORD.

My God, my strength. In whom I trust
I will call upon You, LORD
You carry me through every trial
Help me to love You so much more

When I feel far from You, You’re never far from me
You draw me near, I’ll praise You, LORD.

Your Word tells me You’ll never leave
Though your spirit I still grieve
This fallen world it so deceives
But Your promises, I believe

You’ve made us kings and priests, the veil was torn in two
Such boundless love, I’ll praise You, LORD.
Oh LORD, I can’t wait to see You on that day
Forever more, I’ll praise You, LORD.

We Remember Thee

Craig M. Glasheen Jr.
Luke 22:19; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26

The Lord gave us two ordinances to keep until He returns: baptism and the Lord’s Supper. This song is about that remembrance feast – how when we take the bread and the cup, the symbols of His death, we are to remember what He did for us. The bridge addresses our responsibility of preparing our hearts before we come to His table.

As we come to Thy table, our hearts and minds at peace.
We gather in Thy name, Lord, for Thy remembrance feast.
We bow before Thy presence, and worship at Thy feet.
With grateful hearts, LORD Jesus, we do remember Thee.

The emblems on the table, mere symbols of Thy death.
The sacrifice atoning, that gives eternal breath.
We think of all the anguish, Thou suffered on the tree.
Filled both with joy and sorrow, we do remember Thee.

Let me examine myself, before the meeting begins.
Let no sin go unconfessed and wash me clean from within.

We know our Savior's risen - our advocate on high.
How glorious that day will be when He comes in the sky.
Till then we keep Thine ordinance: "This do, remember me."
Until we're in Thy presence, we do remember Thee.
We do remember Thee.

How Majestic Is Thy Name

Craig M. Glasheen Jr.
Psalm 113:1-3; Acts 4:12

Upon hearing the hymn, "Jesus Is the Sweetest Name I Know" I started to think how "Jesus" is but one of our Lord’s names. Much like the children’s song that goes through each book of the Bible, this song goes through names and titles of our Lord with the chorus simply offering praise to Him.

Immanuel, Son of Man, Holy One of God,
Bread of Life, the Good Shepherd.
And there's no other name, by which the lost are saved.

Lamb of God, Light of the World, Only Begotten of the Father,
Lord of Glory, Seed of Abraham.
And there's no other name, by which the lost are saved.

Oh, Lord how majestic is Thy name.
There is none beside Thee, Lord. How perfect are Thy ways.
Oh, Lord how majestic is Thy name.

The Word, our Redeemer, King of Kings & Lord of Lords,
Mediator between God & man.
And there's no other name, by which the lost are saved.

Mary & the Thief

Craig M. Glasheen Jr.
Romans 3:23

The Roman Catholic portrayal of Mary is unbiblical and heretical at best. Romans 3:23 is just one of many verses clearly saying that we all have sinned - and that includes Mary. According to the world, Mary and the thief are polar opposites yet this is not what God says with regard to their salvation. Both Mary and the thief had to come to Christ for salvation - just like you and me. He is the only way, the only truth, and the only life.

Grief-stricken with tears
Seeing the one she raised for years
Abandoned by His peers
Enduring torture and taunting jeers
He had to die so He might save her
No longer her son but her Savior

Like Mary and the thief we must take our place
At the foot of the cross we're sinners saved by grace
With repentance we accept this gift by faith
When we come to the cross as sinners saved by grace

Also nailed to a tree
He looked at Jesus in mockery
But he soon changed his plea
He cried out, "Lord, remember me"
The one true God, the Incarnation
His only hope of salvation

My Savior washed my sins away
You can have new life today

Yield My Life to You

Craig M. Glasheen Jr.
Romans 6:13-19; 12:1-2

Our responsibility is to yield ourselves to the leading of the Holy Spirit that indwells all believers. The only way we can live the Christian life to the fullest is to recognize that He enables us each moment and by yielding to His will for our lives.

Thank you, oh my Lord for saving a wretch like me.
Paying my debt in full on the cross at Calvary.
You show your love for me each day.
I want to yield my life to You.

Thank you for keeping me safe and secure.
If not for your grace then I would fall away for sure.
A daily struggle with the flesh.
I want to yield my life to You.

Make my life a prayer to You - everything I say and do
To bring honor to Your name.
Help me lose my foolish pride - the selfish thoughts I have inside.
I want to yield my life to You.

Thank you, oh my Lord for Your Spirit that's in me.
No more slave to sin. Praise the Lord, I've been set free.
Help me live for You each day.
I want to yield my life to You.
